The Federal Republic of Germany is the most important partner of Mongolia in Europe. Germany has rendered aid and support to Mongolia in all spheres since the diplomatic establishment made 40 years ago.
Germany has been the biggest donor for Mongolia since the year 1992 alongside Japan and the USA. Until today, the country has given to Mongolia technical and financial support of about 275 million Euros in frames of the bilateral cooperation. The size of aid given from Germany has reached totaling 450 million Euros in addition to developmental assistance from multilateral organizations. Key issues about expanding the bilateral economic cooperation are being discussed during the official visit of the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Mongolia. He is being accompanied by delegates of some well-known companies of Germany. They have held a roundtable meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister Terbishdagva.
Siemens company has been selected to participate in the railway project of Mongolia. This company is liable to adjust the automatic settings of the railways by the project. Although the project has become ready to be realized, it is being delaying due to some reasons caused by the Mongolian side, the Deputy Premier Mr Terbishdagva stressed. Besides Siemens, delegates of the Lufthansa and the Tiffin Group have arrived here to collaborate with the largest projects of Mongolia.
By the way, the 3rd meeting of the Mongolia-Germany intergovernmental working group for the cooperation in minerals, industry and technological sectors will be held in near future. This meeting is expected to significantly contributed to realizing proposals and initiatives which were discussed during the official visit of the FRG Chancellor Angela Merkel to Mongolia in 2011, and the state visit of the Mongolian President to Germany in 2012.
