Reporter of the Republic of Korea`s Yonhap News Agency Lim Dong Kun has embarked on a visit to Baku that will see him gather material for his article about Azerbaijan`s history, economy, culture and tourism opportunities.
In Baku, the Korean journalist visited the Alley of Honors to lay flowers at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev. He visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.
Mr. Dong Kun also visited the office of AzerTAc where he met Director General Aslan Aslanov.
During the meeting, Mr. Aslanov hailed relations between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea in the fields of politics, economy and culture. “Reciprocal visits of the heads of states helped our countries to have elevated these ties to a new level and set new priorities of cooperation.”
He lauded the role of national news agencies in developing relations between the two countries.
Mr. Aslanov provided an insight into AzerTAc`s history and achievements, as well as the agency`s role in ensuring the government`s information policy.
He said AzerTAc maintains good relations with Yonhap, saying the two agencies signed an agreement in the field of information exchange.
He said Baku would host the 16th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the 5th News Agencies World Congress in 2016, adding AzerTAc would chair these two organizations for three years. “This will create new opportunities for developing our cooperation with Korean news agencies,” he added.
Mr. Aslanov said he attended the Executive Committee meeting of OANA in Seoul in 2010, saying he witnessed rapid development in the Republic of Korea. “Managing Director for International & Business Affairs at Yonhap Oh Jae-seok joined the meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) in Baku this June.”
The Director General also highlighted the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as Khojaly massacre perpetrated by the Armenian armed forces.
Mr. Dong Kun conveyed greetings of Yonhap`s Managing Director to the Director General of AzerTAc.
The Korean journalist hailed the itinerary of his visit.
Mr. Dong Kun will exchange experience with AzerTAc staffers, view the agency`s work and tour the regions of Azerbaijan as he will share his impressions of the visit and the country in “Image” magazine.
