On Septermber 3, the President of Russian Federation Mr V. Putin paid a working visit to Mongolia at the invitation of the President of Mongolia, Mr Ts.Elbegdorj. The visit held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in Khalkh River Battles.
On Wednesday, in frames of the working visit of the Russian President to Mongolia, the two sides established documents on the bilateral relations and cooperation.
A visa-free agreement was signed by Mr L.Bold, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and his counterpart of the Russian Federation Mr Sergei Lavrov.
The two countries also inked intergovernmental agreements on readmission and on protection against fires. A cooperation memorandum was established between Mongolia’s Ministry of Road and Transportation and Russia’s Ministry of Transportation on the civil aviation sector.
The signed documents also include an agreement on the establishment of a trans-border wildlife reserve "The Source of the Amur River"; a protocol on technical military assistance to Mongolia free of charge; an agreement on readmission; an agreement on cooperation between the Ministries of Justice; a memorandum on the development of trade-and-economic relations; a memorandum on mutual understanding between Aeroflot-Russian airlines company and "MIAT-Mongolian Airlines" company; and an agreement between Rosneft petroleum company and the Mongolian Ministry of Education and Science on the training of Mongolian nationals in the Rosneft partner institutions.
During the visit, Mongolia and Russia have agreed to increase trade volume between the two countries up to 10 bln US dollars.
Besides that, the Minister of Roads and Transportation of Mongolia Mr A.Gansukh and the President of Russian Railways Mr Vladimir Yakun signed an agreement on outlining a strategic partnership for the modernization and development of Ulaanbaatar Railway (UBZD) with the Russian Railways.
The main goal of the agreement is the strategic development of Ulaanbaatar Railway to ensure growth in the export and transit of goods and strengthen its role in the Eurasian transport and logistics system. The main projects are covering a wide range of activities including the centralized modernization and development of the Ulaanbaatar railway, for example, the electrification and construction of a second track.
The same day, the Russian President had a banquet with the Khlakh Gol Battles veterans. There are 34 war veterans alive in Mongolia and five in Russia. At the end of his working visit, the President of the Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin together with the Mongolian leader Mr Ts.Elbegdorj laid wreaths to the statue of Marshal G.K.Zhukov on Wednesday.
