Country's Retirees Introduced to Enterprise Qatar Services

Doha, August 31 (QNA) - The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development Company Enterprise Qatar (EQ) hosted an introductory meeting for members of the retired Qatari community. The information session was a showcase of EQ's consulting services available to business owners, and a follow up to the five-day workshop held in May that provided participants with the necessary support to set up successful SMEs. Held in cooperation with the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA), the meeting was aimed at encouraging retirees to undertake their own business ventures. It also helped raise awareness about EQ's suite of services and programmes available to support SMEs, that will ultimately help diversify the local economy. Commenting on the continued success of the 'Khutwa' workshop Ali Al-Khulaifi, Director of Business Support at EQ, said: "Through diversifying our client communication, EQ is able to ensure widespread awareness of its different services. Our ongoing meetings with retirees are invaluable to this endeavour as SMEs are crucial to the growth of the local economy." "Retirees play a significant role in EQ's strategy and we therefore seek to ensure their diverse abilities and skillsets are incorporated into the entrepreneurial realm," he added. "After the success of our first 'Khutwa' workshop, we have therefore decided to launch a second series specifically designed for retirees to be held towards the end of 2014." EQ launched its 'Khutwa' initiative to raise the standard of living for Qatari retirees by providing them opportunities to gain the necessary skills and training to convert their ideas and aspirations into a well-developed SME ventures. Praising the GRSIA's unique partnership with EQ, Dalal Al Aqedi, Director of the Media Department at the GRSIA, said: "We are extremely delighted with the success of the 'Khutwa' initiative and the enthusiasm shown by our participants. However, we continue to work towards activating this partnership in association with a number of different state institutions to be able to better serve Qatari retirees in this regard." Nasra Faraj Al Noubi, one of the many participants in EQ's meetings and workshops applauded its commitment to the Qatari economy. "'Khutwa' is an excellent initiative," she said. "It reflects EQ's particular commitment to Qatari retirees and I hope and encourage state institutions across Qatar to continue to play their part in easing regulations and obstacles that face SMEs."
