Malaysia's Finas, Creative Industry Associations Urged To Conduct Research To Bring Creative Products To International Market

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and creative industry associations in the country are urged to conduct research to bring Malaysian creative products to the international markets, especially to ASEAN countries. Malaysian Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari said this was to enable the country's creative industry players to be better known in the global market and enhance their competitiveness. He said the creative industry products such as films and animation were also capable of contributing to the country's economic growth. "What is important is that the industry players take the opportunity with the funds provided by the government to produce high quality results that allows us to be competitive at the international level," he told reporters after holding a closed-door dialogue session with the country's creative industry associations. Jailani said the government had also provided a platform through the Creative Content Industry Guild (CCIG), established in 2011, to enhancing human capital in the creative industry to be on par internationally. Meanwhile Jailani said the ministry had taken note of several proposals submitted by the associations, including the issue of giving recognition to the staff behind the scene of the creative industry and help export films abroad. --BERNAMA
