Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi becomes first embassy to install solar PV panels

ABU DHABI, 24th July, 2016 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi-based Regulation and Supervision Bureau (RSB) has issued a licence to the Italian Embassy to install the photovoltaic solar panels on the roofs of buildings and car shades at the embassy. The introduction of the photovoltaic solar panels makes the Italian embassy the first embassy to be powered by solar PV panels. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the RSB, stressed the importance of this initiative, which promotes sustainable practices. "This is compatible with the 25 goals of the Abu Dhabi Emirate plan, launched recently to promote sustainable environment and optimal use of natural resources," he said. For his part, Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the UAE, thanked the bureau for its cooperation and tireless efforts to implement this initiative. He added that the initiative also reflects the great interest of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation in promoting the sustainable environment.
