Putin hopes for conclusion of new climate change agreement

PARIS, November 30 /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that a new climate change agreement, which will replace the Kyoto protocol, will be worked out through joint efforts. "We hope that if we join efforts we will be able to work out a new climate change agreement, which will replace the Kyoto protocol and will serve the interests of all states and peoples after 2020," the Russian leader said in a speech at the International Climate Change Conference on Monday. According Putin, Russia wants the new climate change agreement to be comprehensive, effective and equal. "We support a long-term goal of drafting a new agreement that will limit the growth of global temperature by 2 degrees Celsius by the end of the 21st century," the Russian president stressed.
