Time To Respond To Iranˈs Call For Co-op: Iran Daily

Tehran, July 21, IRNA - ˈIran Dailyˈ on Monday commented on the recently concluded 6th round of Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UNSC+Germany) in Vienna, Austria on July 18. The English-language paper in its Opinion column stressed that ˈIt is time to respond to Iran’s call for cooperation on the basis of mutual respect. Those who have not yet realized the current and near future situations will be losers.ˈ During the talks, besides negotiation with the P5+1 members, Iranˈs Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held bilateral talks with his American counterpart John Kerry on July 13 and 14. Prior to the talks with Kerry, Zarif had held bilateral talks with his British counterpart William Hague as well. One of the achievements of this round of talks was that almost all participants have realized that the main forces with determining powers in the talks are Iran and the US. It is particularly important for the countries that try to throw splinters in the process of talks. It is crystal clear that France and Germany are not as involved in the nuclear talks as the US and the UK are, though French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius made great fuss over the issue during the preliminary talks in Geneva, Switzerland, to gain popularity among some Arab countries. These Arab states are the traditional followers of the US and the UK and, like Israel, do not want the US to establish close ties with Iran. As if there has been a kind of division of labor between Fabius and his British counterpart. This time it was Hague who tried to play the role of a bad guy. Before the deadline for concluding a deal approached, Hague whispered that negotiations would not make a remarkable progress. However, it is publicly acknowledged that the negotiations are mainly between Iran and the US, and the UK, or for that matter Hague, act only as an intermediary in the talks to boost US bargaining power. Wise, nationalist politicians and statesmen have full knowledge of the situation in the UK. On July 14, the House of Commons released a report strongly blasting government policy towards Iran. The report criticized the government for not being able to catch up with other European countries in establishing constructive relations with the Islamic Republic. The MPs asked the government to trust Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and cooperate with him to resolve the nuclear issue. It seems that even the House of Commons does not take Hague’s words seriously. In fact, the British lawmakers, who are aware of the Washington’s determination to solve the nuclear issue to begin a constructive interaction with Iran, are afraid lest they lose the opportunity to boost ties with Iran at a time when time is absolutely ripe for the purpose. They advised Hague not to get more Catholic than the Pope. Some countries have not yet realized that after Iran and P5+1 reach a final nuclear deal, Tehran will be transformed from a regional power into a powerful and influential member of the international society. Iran’s imminent final nuclear accord with the West will certainly have great impacts on the Middle East. Conclusion of the agreement will change the West’s policy of denial and confrontation with Iran into a constructive interaction with Tehran. Also, with the conclusion of the deal, Iran’s sanctions will be lifted, which will facilitate elimination of recession and an annual economic growth rate of up to 5 percent that will boost domestic welfare and foreign relations and trade. A developed Iran with a powerful military that reaches all regional countries to fight common threats, will have the capability of attaining a much higher status in the Middle East, highlighted the paper in conclusion.
