Australia, Thailand set up joint unit against transnational crime

BANGKOK, May 30 (TNA) - Australia and Thailand have set up a joint unit against transnational drug trafficking and other crime. Australian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Paul Robilliard and Thai Justice Minister General Paiboon Khumchaya inked an agreement on the cooperation between Australia's Federal Police and Thailand's Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB, under the Ministry of Justice, in Bangkok on Monday. Under the agreement, both sides will join forces in preventing and cracking down on drug trafficking in all forms and channels, including drug precursors, transit sites and destinations. Besides, both sides will set up a joint special operational units against drugs and other transnational crime, comprising five parties, including Australia's Federal Police and Thailand's ONCB, Royal Thai Police, Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), and Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
