Bahrain efforts to support Syrian refugees highlighted

Ottawa, March 26 (BNA): Bahraini Non-resident Ambassador to Canada Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended a function organised by the GCC ambassadors to Canada and hosted by the Saudi embassy in recognition of the Canadian initiative in welcoming the Syrian refugees. The Bahraini ambassador highlighted the efforts of Bahrain to provide assistance and humanitarian aid for the Syrian brethren, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also shed light on the efforts of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) and its cooperation with Jordan in this respect. He also pointed out that Bahrain has been hosting many Syrian families since the outbreak of the crisis in Syria in 2011 and is providing all needed services for them. The function was attended by Canadian ministers, MPs and senior officials. At the end of the event, the GCC ambassadors gave a donation of $ 31,000 to the rescue authority of the Syrians in Canada under the name United Way / Centraide Ottawa. The move is in support of the Canadian government’s efforts to help the Syrian refugees.
