Bahrain free of lumpy skin inflammatory disease

Manama, May 29 (BNA): Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa today announced that Bahrain is free of lumpy skin inflammatory disease of cattle, pointing out the necessary precautionary and preventive measures have been taken following reporting its break out in a neighbouring country. The undersecretary explained that Animal Health Control Department have conducted the necessary veterinary surveys at various cattle farms which showed negative results. He affirmed that the ministry constantly follows up the development of the disease at the regional and global level. Head of Animal Health Control Department Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf said that cattle import from the disease-affected countries has been banned.
