Iran Navy Saves Cargo Vessels Attacked By Pirates

Tehran, Aug 30, IRNA - The Iranian Navy has recently rescued two cargo ships which had come under attack by pirates in the international free waters, it was reported on Sturday. Eight speed boats belonging to the pirates tried to hijack the vessels but fled after the 31st Fleet of the Iranian Navy arrived on the scene in the Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb. The 31st Fleet of the Iranian Navy clashed with pirates before they fled. Both ships carrying the medical and pharmaceutical items, worth millions of dollars, destined for Iran. In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters aimed at protecting naval routes and providing security for merchant vessels and tankers./end
