SCH Holds Joint Meeting on Ebola

Doha, August 20 (QNA) - Supreme Council of Health (SCH) held here today a joint meeting including the International Health Regulations (IHR) committee and advisory working team of transmitted diseases control within the framework of the national preparedness plan to Curb Ebola. The meeting discussed Ebola virus disease situation in the world and following-up implementation of the precautionary measures after Ebola outbreak declared an international public health emergency by World Health Organization (WHO) in regard to the recommendation of IHR committee's experts after increase of Ebola cases in West African countries. Director of Public Health Department at SCH Dr. Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, who is also Chairman of IHR committee affirmed that no cases of Ebola virus reported in Qatar. He cited the precautionary measures that have been taken in the state, confirming readiness of the health authorities to deal with and to brief experts of the Transmitted Diseases Control Department and IHR committee members on any suspected case. He noted that the preparedness plans have been taken to implement the precautionary measures that lead to control developments of the epidemic disease. (QNA)
