By Minggu Simon Lhasa BANGKOK, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Christmas is about a month away but the air of festivity is already here. Shopping malls are organising Christmas-themed promotions and decorations to lure shoppers...and, Santa Claus' elves are also busy. Marking its ninth anniversary, the upmarket Siam Paragon Shopping Centre celebrated the Siam Paragon Epic Christmas Parade 2014, with the largest gathering of people dresssed as Santa's elves Tuesday. Although 14 people were disqualified, Parc Paragon in Bangkok is now the home to 'Guinness World Record: The Largest Gathering of Santa's Elves', with 1,762 people dressed as Santa's Elves, beating the previous record of 1,100 people at Stockled Park in Wetherby, England in 2013. The counting process took almost two hours and as part of the record making process, the people dressed as elves were required to remain stationary for five minutes. Guinness World of Records representative Richard Stenning (left) was on hand to supervise the counting of the people and ensure rules were observed. Mayuree Chaipromprasith, from the Siam Paragon management, said the record-breaking event was achieved with coopeartion from students from schools in Bangkok, as well as the b Foundation for the Welfare of the Crippled and CCF Foundation in Thailand.
