Harimau Malaya On Mission To Score Early Goals Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Harimau Malaya, facing an uphill task at the National Stadium Saturday night, are on a mission to score early goals to be in control of the second leg final of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup. Malaysia need three goals without conceding any to beat Thailand after losing 0-2 in the first leg in Bangkok. Harimau Malaya coach, Dollah Salleh said the early goals would boost the confidence of players and garner fan support. "We have to give our best, the important thing is to get early goals," he said when met by reporters after the team's training session at the venue, here Friday. He was satisfied with the condition of the National Stadium pitch and he hoped it would not rain Saturday night as it could affect the rhythm of the game. "In some areas, the grass has matured and in some it has worn off. I am worried rain will affect our chances of scoring," he said. In this regard, Dollah wanted the national squad's defence to seal off the Thai midfield led by their lethal player Chanathip Songkrasin who is very fast in attack. "Their strength is in the midfield and I know their weaknesses," said the former Police coach. For the record, Malaysia under coach K. Rajagobal emerged champions in 2010 after winning on 4-2 aggregate over Indonesia in the final. Thailand are gunning for their fourth title after being champions in 1996, 2000 and 2002.
