MAYOR MEETS FISU PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city E.Bat-Uul met this weekend a delegation headed by Mr Claude-Louis Gallien, a president of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), who had participated in a regular meeting of the FISU Steering Committee in Ulaanbaatar. The Mayor thanked the FISU leaders for visiting Mongolia and pointed out that Ulaanbaatar wants to host the Summer Universiade Games in 2033, and asked the FISU authorities to back it. In response, Gallien said Ulaanbaatar "has a really big ambition", and highlighted an importance of a long-year planning and efforts. “Hosting Universiade Games is a big responsibility and a project, too. World’s leading dynamic cities spend much time and put huge efforts to organize the Universiade. Host of the Olympics is very close to those cities that hosted the Universiade,” Mr Gallien noted and added that the FISU is ready to help Ulaanbaatar reach this goal. He recommended that Ulaanbaatar study experiences of the Universiade and develop the infrastructure. Present at the meeting were O.Matytsin, first deputy president of the FISU; S.Berg and L.Kabral, the FISU deputy presidents; and other officials.
