Shanshan Ready For Another Memorable Outing In M'sia

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Defending champion and world number seven, Feng Shanshan of China is set for another memorable outing in the Sime Darby LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Malaysia 2015, which tees-off Thursday. Shanshan said as the defending champion, she was determined to defend her title and maintain a remarkable outing at the championship. "During my practice at the golf course, I try to get into the good memories of last year. "This year is a little bit different because I'm the defending champion but I'm not going to give myself any pressure. I just want to enjoy the game this week, like I used to. "I have a good record playing here. I have one win, one second placing...I would say that in the last five years I competed in the event, I had four top-10 results," the 26-year-old from Guangzhou, China, told reporters Tuesday. The highlights of this year's event, spectators would be able to see nine of the top-10 players on the current Rolex World Rankings in action. They are world number one, South Korea's Park Inbee, New Zealand's Lydia Ko and the United States' Stacy Lewis, the world number two and three respectively. Only South Korea's In Gee Chun, the current world number eight is not participating. Lydia, who is making her second consecutive appearance here, noted that the course suited her game but it wasn't easy to win. "This tournament has it's top field. It doesn't get much better than this. There's a lot of great things to look forward to. "Personally, I think I play better when I have fun and I've got a smile on my face. I just got to play some good golf out there and just have fun," she said. The event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) in Bukit Kiara from Oct 8-11, the event offers a total prize money of US$2 million (about RM8.7 million). The LPGA event will see 10 sponsor invitees and 62 LPGA Tour players, including Malaysian players - Kelly Tan, Ainil Johani Abu Bakar, Cindy Lee-Pridgen, Michelle Koh and Nur Duriyah Damian, vying for the title. -- BERNAMA
