U.A.E. seeking Guinness World Records entry at Int'l Tennis Federation's annual meet

Dubai (WAM): U.A.E. will be seeking an entry into the Guinness World Records when Dubai plays host to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) from September 16-18, according to a local newspaper. One of the things planned to commemorate such an important meeting is the use of tennis balls to depict the now-popular "three fingers" sign of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Organisers will be approaching the Guinness World Records for a possible entry for this depiction, the Gulf News said yesterday. "We went on a brainstorming session to make this AGM a very special event. After much consideration we thought Sheikh Mohammad’s victory sign with three fingers after Dubai’s winning bid for Expo 2020 would be the appropriate thing to do," Sarah Baker, General Secretary, Emirates Tennis (TE), told Gulf News. "The running theme for the three days of the meeting with the evolution of Dubai and we are in the process of finalising a programme that will depict the two sides of Dubai, the old and the new," Ms Baker added. The ITF’s AGM is a major event in the international tennis calendar and is attended by delegates from all the member countries of the world governing body, and Dubai has so far confirmed 270 delegates who are scheduled to attend. The organising committee of TE has already given its approval to the creation of a new logo. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – Read more: http://www.wam.ae/en/news/sports-emirates/1395267919451.html
