SODI helps Laos to clear UXOs in Khamkeut
(KPL) The Solidarity Service International Organisation (SODI) of Germany granted 2.9 million Euro to Laos for UXO clearance and socio-economic development in Khamkeut district, Borikhamsay province.
A MOU signing ceremony took place in Vientiane Capital on 23 June between the Deputy Director of the National Regulatory Authority (NRN) for the UXO/Mine Action sector in Laos, Mr. Somneuk Volasane and Board Member of SODI to Laos, Mr. Wolfram Schwope.
The project would implement for five years, from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2014, which it would start in Ban Chan and Ban Nadeua, Khamkeut district, Borikhamsay province.
The project is aiming at clearing UXOs, developing economy in Khamkeut district, building a kindergarten, a primary school and safe water supply, irrigation system and other facility.
