India Imports US$8.8 Bln Worth Of Vegetable Oil In First Half Of Fiscal Year 2021-22

NEW DELHI, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- India imported more than US$8.83 billion worth of vegetable oil during the April-September period this year, recording an increase of 84.8 per cent in value over the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce's latest trade data. Vegetable oil imports last month alone valued US$1.99 billion, almost 132 per cent higher than the figure in September 2020. India imports huge quantities of palm oil, soyoil and sunflower oil to meet its domestic consumption demand. The country's overall imports during the first half of its fiscal year 2021-22 grew 40.52 per cent to US$341.1 billion versus the same period a year ago. Total merchandise and services exports were US$312.47 billion, representing an increase of 64.91 per cent over the six-month period last year. -- BERNAMA
