Al-Watan Praises HIA for Winning 'World's Best Airport 2021 Award'

Doha, August 08 (QNA) - In its Sunday's editorial, Al-Watan daily newspaper praised Hamad International Airport (HIA) for being named as the 'World's Best Airport' at the Skytrax 2021 World Airport Awards, which reflects the State of Qatar and the Airport's leading position, as they preparing for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The newspaper said that this prestigious position also reflects the confidence of global travelers, as well as the permanent commitment to excellence, and the hard work of the staff during the past years, noting that it comes at a difficult time due to Covid-19 pandemic which affect everything especially on the global travel industry. Al-Watan indicated that over the past few years, HIA has risen in the Skytrax rankings for the best airport in the World, ranking third in the World in 2020, thanks to its future vision and innovative approach to the World of airports, which enabled it to implement many advanced technologies that contributed to empowering travelers and enhancing its advantages, making it the airport of choice for travelers around the World. The paper pointed out that in response to the unprecedented challenges during the past year, following the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the global aviation industry, passenger traffic, air cargo demand and much more, HIA has taken strict health and safety measures, and obtained an accreditation certificate from the British Standards Institution (BSI) for its implementation of the aviation health and safety protocols, following successful audits for Compliance to ICAO Council's Aviation Organization Civil Aviation Recovery Taskforce (CART), to become the first airport in the world to obtain this accreditation.
