Locals call for closure of e-waste plant

CHACHOENSAO, June 5 (TNA) - Local villagers in Chachoengsao called for closure of an electronic waste recycling plant, operating without public hearing. The factory has extended the premises, posing a threat from pollution to local communities. Local residents in Phanom Sarakam district gathered at a temple, demanding the authorities to investigate the operation of the electronic waste recycling plant. They claimed that they have been affected by pollution, caused by the electronic waste recycling plant of the He Jia Enterprises Co,Ltd. They said the industrial waste emits foul and contaminates water resource, which could pose danger to local communities. They proposed that the factory be shut down. District officials said the plant is operational without holding a public hearing. (TNA)
