Space office set up first time in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 7 (TNA) -- The United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Thai government have signed an agreement to establish a space office in Thailand, in line with the government’s policy to further develop space related matters in the kingdom, said Digital Economy and Society Minister Pichet Durongkaveroj. The agreement, witnessed by Mr Pichet, was signed recently in Vienna, Austria, by the Geo Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency and the UNOOSA. Mr Pichet said the office is aimed at further developing space subjects in Thailand as well as other Asian countries and will at the same time encourage the new generation to study space issues. A similar offices are set up earlier in China and India, said Mr Pichet. (TNA)
