Three major jobs for foreigners to be discussed

BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - Concerned government agencies will decide later this month whether to allow foreigners to work on three significant jobs, now reserving for Thais only, said Labour Minister retired Police General Adul Sangsingkeo. His remarks were made after related government agencies on Friday reviews the list of professions, reserved for Thai people and proposed the plan to allow foreigners to take up 11 professions under certain conditions. However, they decided to continue reserving 28 professions for Thai citizens. Following opposition from concerned parties, Pol Gen Adul said the ministry will review all recommendations and will conclude within June whether the country will delist engineers, architects and accountants from occupations reserved for Thai people or not. Foreigners will be allowed to work in these three professions as employees under the supervision of Thai employers, if the green light is given by the government. Under Mutual Recognition Agreements for skilled labor in ASEAN, the three professions will be allow to work in other ASEAN countries more easily under certain conditions. (TNA)
