Three Thai SMEs win world-class awards in US

BANGKOK, July 7 (TNA) -- Three Thai small- and medium-sized enterprises received two gold medals and one silver medal from the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2018 in the United States. Suwannachai Lohawatanakul, director of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP), said his office led the SMEs to join a contest in the festival in California. They were among contestants from 35 countries with 300 entries in the contest. The gold medals went to Quality Plus Aesthetic International Co that extracted Purify Xanthone from mangosteen skin for acne treatment products and to King Fruits Co for its freeze-dried banana products and banana-flavored powder for energy drinks. Glovetex Co won the silver medal on the production of fireproof gloves from Kevlar filaments. OSMEP selected the three companies from the 9th SME National Awards contest. “The awards support the international recognition of Thai SMEs. I believe that this will inspire Thai operators to endlessly develop products and add their values for the national interest,” Mr Suwannachai said. The Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2018 debuted this year. It was hosted by International Federation of Inventors’ Associations and organized by Korea Invention Promotion Association. (END)
