Unusual Santa Claus

Bishkek, January 03, 2009, Khabar – The hero of our story, the main New Year personage, Santa Claus, is unusual, made of plastic. Almost all girls are dreaming to make dolls by themselves and the famous Barbie has won the popularity because it is possible to change her dresses, build the doll’s house and find friends. Olga Khmeleva was also a dreamer in her childhood but unlike others she was able to make her dream come true and now she is making hand-made dolls.

Olga Khmeleva, doll maker:
- This is my first doll and her name is Carolina. Again, when I was a child, I thought that since it is a princess, she must have a beautiful dress. That is why I am trying to fulfill my fantasies.

Olga Khmeleva is a talented self-educated person, since in order to become a craft-person she hasn’t graduated from any college. She mastered her art by reading books and exploring the Internet. The material for dolls is brought from abroad but dresses are self-made.

- When I was a child I was presented a chocolate Santa Claus and put it under the Christmas tree. Since then I was always dreaming to see the real Santa and today I fulfilled my fantasy. Now, I have a real Santa.

Making of one doll takes one month. It is a very laborious craft, which needs a lot of diligence, since every doll is a part of the character of its creator. But since Olga wanted a holiday, she made plastic Santas very quickly.
