Malaysia's EC Does Not Conceal Information - Chairman

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 10 (Bernama) -- The Election Commission (EC) is not trying to conceal or delay the results of the 14th General Election (GE14), said its chairman Mohd Hashim Abdullah (picture). "What is viralled outside is the unofficial results, perhaps received from party agents on duty at the polling centres, but for the EC, we have to release the official results, results that have been verified. “Once we receive (election results) of all the 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats, we will immediately announce,” he said at a special media conference here Thursday. He said until now, the EC was still receiving the results from the state and also the polling station heads and the returning officers. "For certain, the people are waiting (for the election results), but give us some time to make the official announcement, (to wait) after all the results have been verified and there is no more unofficial results. "Since, we are the body responsible to handle the election. it means all decisions that we released are the official results,” he said.
