PM expects 13 people trapped in cave learn lesson
CHON BURI, July 4 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said he hoped that the 13 people who visited Tham Luang cave and have been trapped there by flooding have learned their lessons and will be good citizens for their society.
He said in Chon Buri province that His Majesty the King was concerned about the 12 boys and their football coach trapped in the cave in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai province. His Majesty the King also extended moral support and praised the dedication by all parties joining forces in the rescue mission, the prime minister said.
“It is a lesson for the future and this will be a benchmark of Thailand. The occurrence of love and unity in the nation should not require any incident. Just keep in mind that Thai people must love one another,” Gen Prayut said.
The prime minister said that officials were planning the evacuation of the 13 people from Tham Luang cave. There were two options which had their own obstacles.
Boring the cave would be quick but officials had to find a right location. Evacuation through the main entrance of the cave would not be easy for the trapped boys because there were narrow holes where people could pass one after another, Gen Prayut said.
Officials would consider possibilities and readiness for each option and evacuation would have to be accomplished as soon as possible, he said. He added that no one could set an exact evacuation date.
Gen Prayut also said that authorities in Chiang Rai province would consider appropriate compensation in relation to the Tham Luang incident.
“Importantly, after the boys are brought out of the cave, they must be good people of the society and learn their lesson,” the prime minister said. (TNA)
