Russian Emergencies Ministry’s jet delivers relief supplies to Mexico

MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. A airlifter of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has delivered 35 tonnes of relief supplies for Mexico’s population in line with a request from the Mexican government and an instruction from the Russian government, the press service of the ministry told TASS.
"An Ilyushin-76 turboprop of the Ministry for Emergency Situations arrived in Acapulco with a consignment of foodstuffs, tents and prime necessities aboard weighing 35 tonnes in all," a spokesperson for the press service told TASS.
Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov sent a telegram to Mexican Interior Minister Miguel Angel Osorio Chong earlier where he expressed condolences over the aftermaths of the September 19 devastating earthquake and stated readiness to assist in the elimination of the aftermaths of the calamity.
According to the information provided by Mexico’s national seismic survey service, the epicenter of the quakes was located 12 km to the southeast off Axochiapan, a township in Morelos State some 111 km to the south of Mexico City.
The seismic focus of the earthquake was identified at a depth of 57 below the surface of the earth. Several dozen aftershocks with a magnitude of up to 4.0 points on the open-ended Richter scale were registered later.
The calamity claimed the lives of more than 300 people. More than 40 buildings collapses and more than 5,000 other buildings sustained damage. Over 2,000 people received bodily damage.
Electricity blackouts affected about 4 million people.
