OPEN HOUSE CONCEPT GIVES POSITIVE IMPACT, SAYS MUSA

KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia), Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government's move
to introduce the 'Open House' concept for major festivals celebrated in the
country has given a very positive impact, said Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman.

He said the concept had clearly succeeded in contributing towards political
stability, economic prosperity and social wellbeing.

Musa said political stability and an efficient administrative system would
further boost investor's confidence to invest and enhance the state's economy,
and this in turn would create more job opportunities for the people.

"We must realise that the stability, peace and harmony that we enjoy did not
come naturally and had been achieved through hard work.

"They were achieved through sacrifice and the contribution of various
quarters, the government and the people. Thus, it's most important that they are
preserved for our sake and that of our future generation's," he said.

Musa said this in his speech at the launching of the Chinese New Year
carnival at Lintasan Deasoka, here Sunday night.

Meanwhile, he said the rapid development of Kota Kinabalu city called for
greater efforts from the city dwellers in discharging their responsibilities.

Musa hoped that efforts to preserve and promote the uniqueness of the
customs and culture of a particular ethnic group could be carried out
continuously instead of during the festive season only.
