M`SIAN PM TO ATTEND WORLD NUCLEAR CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON
ROMPIN (Malaysia) Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak will attend
the World Nuclear Conference in Washington on April 12-13, Malaysian Ambassador
to the United States Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis said.
US President Barack Obama had invited the prime minister in a letter sent
through the embassy in Washington, he told reporters here Saturday.
Jamaluddin said the prime minister had confirmed that he would attend the
event which would be attended by senior leaders from 40 countries.
He said the invitation for Malaysia to share its views on nuclear issue
although the country was not a nuclear country was a big honour for Malaysia.
"Malaysia is also regarded as representing the voices of Islamic countries
on the issue of nuclear," he said, adding that the visit would also give Najib
the opportunity to meet potential investors from the US and further strengthen
Kuala Lumpur-Washington relations.
