MAGNITUDE-4.9 QUAKE STRIKES JAYAPURA
Bandarlampung, Indonesia, Feb 14 (ANTARA)- A magnitude-4.9 earthquake occurred northwest of Jayapura, Papua province, Sunda, at 11.34 am local time.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) disclosed that the epicenter of the tremor was located on land 102 km northwest of Jayapura.
The quake was also felt in Jayapura, Sentani and Genyem and lied in a depth of 20 km, 2.24 degrees southern latitude, and 139.83 degrees eastern longitude.
BMKG also reported on Sunday morning a 5,0-magnitude quake also struck southeast of Siberut, Mentawai, West Sumatra, at a depth of 10 km with its epicenter in the sea 65 km southeast of Siberut, 113 km southwest of Padang, West Sumatra.***
