THOUSANDS OF FLOOD VICTIMS IN EVACUATION

Bandung, Feb 16 (ANTARA) - At least 1,800 flood victims in Baleendah subdistrict, Bandung regency, were still staying at homes and office buildings at higher grounds Tuesday.

"The flood waters in Baleendah was still high, and throngs of residents were still in evacuation, while the Mekarsari elementary school was still inundated for the past two weeks, and school had to be moved to higher grounds," Bandung flood control coordinator Dadan Wahidin said.

The evacuees were given accommodation at three locations, namely at the Multipurpose Building, KNPI building, and PDIP office building, while some of the victims had diarrhoea, itches, flu and cough.

They had to move to higher grounds because their homes in Cieunteung, Bandung, were still inundated with the flood waters reaching 200 centimeters high.
