STOPPING EFFORTS TO PUT IN ORDER SERVICE HOUSES IRRATIONAL
Jakarta, Feb 16 (ANTARA) - Military Commander Gen. Djoko Santoso said it was irrational to stop putting in order service houses occupied by families of retired military servicemen and other parties.
"It is irrational to stop the efforts to put service houses occupied by families of retired military personnel and other parties in order," the commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) said here on Tuesday.
He said however that he would consider the request of a working committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) that the TNI stop its efforts to put in order service houses which were still occupied by the families of retired servicemen.
"We have to see its context first. If the houses are still occupied by the retired military servicemen and their wives it would be rational to stop it temporarily. However if the houses are occupied by retired personnel who already own their own houses it would be illogical to stop the efforts," he said.
He said that his side would continue to carry out orderliness effort based on the regulation in force while on the other hand taking into account the humanitarian aspects.
"We will re-evaluate our steps that we have done so far in putting in order service houses, including considering the request of the legislators," he said.
