COURT JUDGE BECOMES DEFENDANT IN DIVORCE SUIT

Jakarta, Feb 16 (ANTARA) - Endratno Rajamai works as a court judge in Serui, Papua, but on Tuesday he was a defendant at a session of the Judges Ethics Council (MKH) here over a divorce suit filed by his wife.

The jury consisting of judges from the Supreme Court (MA) and the Judicial Commission (KY) heard that Endratno's wife, Dewi Prasinta, wanted a divorce and payment of Rp84.5 million she claimed he had borrowed from her.

Endratno said he and his wife whom he married through a parental arrangement were in conflict over a personal matter.

After their marriage, Endratno was posted as judge at the Serui District Court in Papua while his wife remained in Palopo, Central Sulawesi.
But after some time, his wife ran away from their home , and later filed for divorce and demanded that he also return Rp84.5 million she said he had borrowed from her,
However, Endratno denied that the money, handed to him in 66 installments, was a loan.

The MKH session on Tuesday was eventually adjourned after Endratno declared he was sick and needed time to seek medical care.
