VISITOR ARRIVALS TO SINGAPORE INCREASE IN JANUARY

SINGAPORE, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered a 17.6 per cent growth on-year to reach 908,000 last month.

This was the highest recorded visitor arrivals in January, according to the
Singapore Tourism Board in its monthly report released Friday.

The STB said Singapore's top five visitor-generating markets in January were
Indonesia with 173,000 visitors, China (99,000), Australia (90,000), Malaysia
(68,000), and India (57,000).

The board said these five top markets accounted for 54 per cent of the total
visitor arrivals for the month.

Hotel room revenue grew 8.5 per cent against January 2009 to reach an
estimated S$137 million last month, the STB added.
