EMIRATES ADDS ANOTHER A380 TO LONDON HEATHROW ROUTE
DUBAI, March 12 (Bernama) -- Dubai-based Emirates Airline is set to add
another Airbus A380 to its London Heathrow route from July 1.
In addition to the daily EK001 from Dubai, the A380 will also be deployed
on EK003, which departs the Emirate at 2.15pm and arrives in London's Heathrow
at 6.40pm (local time).
The airline first brought the double-decker plane, equipped with an onboard
lounge and shower spas, to the British capital in December 2008.
Heathrow is one of the key airports the carrier had in mind when
the A380 was conceived, Salem Obaidalla, Emirates' Senior Vice-President
of Commercial Operations for Europe and Russian Federation, said in a
statement today.
"The new deployment allows more passengers travelling to and from the
British capital to experience this remarkable aircraft," he said.
Emirates is now operating eight A380s.In addition to London's Heathrow, the
airline flies to Toronto, Paris, Jeddah, Bangkok, Seoul, Sydney and Auckland.
Emirates operates 98 non-stop flights weekly to the United Kingdom.
As well as five flights a day to Heathrow, it operates daily
services to Newcastle and Glasgow, a double daily to Manchester and Birmingham
and three flights a day to Gatwick.
On March 28, the airline's 100-plus destination route network will be
extended to Tokyo, followed by Amsterdam in May, Prague in July, Madrid in
August and Dakar in September.
