GURUH`S CHANCE TO BECOME PDIP CHAIRMAN CLOSED
Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, April 3 (ANTARA) - The chance of Guruh Soekarnoputra to compete for the post of general chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is already closed, committee chair Puan Maharani said here on Saturday.
She told reporters the nomination of candidates has been finalized as all board members have named Megawati Soekarnoputri during the conference of regional and branch board members to become the candidate for the post.
"In line with party mechanism and referring to the decision of the central executive board Number 435/KPTS/DPP/XI/2009 nomination of candidates for general chairmanship is done through the conference of regional and branch boards," she said.
Based on the results of the conference in 33 regional chapters across Indonesia, all have agreed to nominate Megawati to again become the leader of the party for 2010-2015.
Puan assured that the party's third congress in Bali on April 6-9 would no longer receive names of candidates for the post.
"The congress will discuss more about the party's political stance, internal rules and working programs," she said in the company of Tjahjo Kumolo, Anak Agung Oka Ratmadi and other party executives.
