Russian Emergencies Ministry plane to deliver humanitarian aid to

MOSCOW, July 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian Emergencies Ministry's plane
will leave for the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Thursday, July 7, with
humanitarian aid aboard.
The plane will deliver rice, sugar, canned dairy and fish products.
Another Emergencies Ministry plane landed in Benghazi on Wednesday,
July 6, bringing 36 tonnes of relief supplies.
The aid is being provided by order of President Dmitry Medvedev and
resolution of the government.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said earlier that
"The protracted armed conflict in Libya has led to a dramatic degradation
of the humanitarian situation in the country, which is a matter of serious
concern in Moscow."
"In this connection, the Russian leadership has made the decision to
provide urgent humanitarian aid to the whole population of Libya to an
equal degree irrespective of the part of the country," Lukashevich said.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry will deliver relief supplies to both
western and eastern regions of Libya in the next several days, including
food, tents, blankets, etc.
"We maintain constant contact with the authorities in Tripoli and
representatives of the Transitional National Council of Libya in order to
determine optimum ways for delivery and distribution of such aid," the
spokesman said
