Newspapers Praise Qatar-US Strategic Partnership to Establish Regional and International Security and Stability
Doha, July 11 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers praised in their Sunday editorials the strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United States and their common interest to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields at the highest levels.
The newspapers highlighted the delegation of members of the US Congress' visit to Doha and their talks with senior State officials on Saturday and stressed that this visit reflects a common desire of the two countries to strengthen their relations beyond cooperation at the bilateral level to the cross-border strategic partnership to establish regional and international security and stability.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its Sunday editorial that the strategic partnership between Qatar and the US is a model to be followed, especially in terms of the role the two countries play through cooperation and coordination to provide security and stability in the region. What strengthens this distinguished partnership is continuous communication, consultation and mutual visits at all levels, the paper added.
The newspaper pointed out that Qatar witnessed this week a number of important visits by many delegations, the latest of which is the current visit by a high-ranking delegation from the US Congress. The visit of this important delegation was preceded by the visit of HE Governor of Indiana State in the United States of America Eric Holcomb, the paper said.
The paper also noted that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani received a phone call on Friday from HE US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who expressed his thanks to the State of Qatar for its role in promoting peace in the region, helping Lebanon and supporting the Afghanistan negotiations.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the continuous communication, consultation and coordination between the two countries on regional and international developments is part of the strategic bilateral partnership and relations and the commitment to long-term cooperation, which pushes joint action to enhance international peace and security, as the most prominent forms of coordination appear in the cooperation of the two countries to bring peace to Afghanistan, and in many regions in the Middle East and Africa, to achieve security and prosperity in the region.
In turn, Al-Watan daily newspaper said in its editorial that HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani met at the Amiri Diwan office on Saturday morning with a delegation of members of the United States Congress, on the occasion of their visit to the country, and that during the meeting, they reviewed the strategic friendship and cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the United States and ways to enhance and develop them, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international developments.
The newspaper said that the Qatari-US relations have always been deep and strong, and achieved common regional goals, through an approach based on balance, cooperation and sustainability, pointing out that the launch of the strategic dialogue came to establish an important mechanism for strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The paper noted the phone call that HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani received from HE US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which they reviewed the latest developments in Afghanistan. HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed, during the call, the State of Qatar's commitment to providing political support to the peace process in Afghanistan, and to continuing dialogue among all parties to reach a political solution, Al-Watan added.
In conclusion, Al-Watan stressed that the Qatari role in the region has always been appreciated and supported by the international community, as Qatar works, through all available means, to enhance security and stability as a prerequisite for advancing the comprehensive development process, and that Qatar has made great efforts to reach negotiated solutions, which were always been appreciated by the international community, and the strategic relations between Qatar and the United States are one of the strongest in the region, which contributes effectively to achieving international peace and security.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said that the visit of a delegation of members of the US Congress to Doha and their talks with senior state officials yesterday reflect a common desire of the two friendly countries to strengthen their relations that went beyond cooperation at the bilateral level to the cross-border strategic partnership to establish regional and international security and stability.
The paper pointed out that the most prominent feature of the Qatari talks with members of the US Congress delegation is their focus on exchanging views on the importance of developing the strategic relationship between the two friendly countries, and the common determination to strengthen it in all sectors and vital areas of cooperation, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international developments.
Moreover, Al-Raya said that the State of Qatar and the United States are allies and key partners in establishing security and peace in many conflict areas in the world, most notably the support of Doha and Washington to end the state of war in Afghanistan, and their encouragement for the Afghan parties to continue dialogue and negotiation in order to reach a political solution that achieves peace and stability for the brotherly Afghan people.
The paper commended the joint work between Doha and Washington in order to achieve peace and stability in the region and the world. The United States has shown a clear commitment to the Doha Agreement that it signed with the Taliban in late February 2020, and continues the gradual withdrawal of American and allied forces in Afghanistan, the paper pointed out.
Al-Raya concluded by saying that the discussions of the American delegation shed light on the regional role of the State of Qatar and its efforts in the field of mediation and achieving stability in the region, while the Qatari mediation diplomacy continues its intensive activity in the Afghan file, as Doha submitted a formal proposal to the Afghan parties stipulating the approval of a third-party mediation and a binding time frame to advance the stalled peace negotiations before the completion of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
