Ministry of Endowments: Cochlear Implants for 22 Children in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek, July 13 (QNA) - A Qatari medical delegation from the Ministry of Endowments and Hamad Medical Corporation carried out cochlear implantation surgeries for 22 hearing-impaired children in the Kyrgyz capital.
This came within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented in the General Administration of Endowments, and the Ministry of Health, represented in Hamad Medical Corporation, in response to the wishes of the endowers, and their conditions stipulated in their endowment arguments in particular, who provided their endowments to the Endowment Bank for Health Care.
General Administration of Endowments assistant director-general Saad bin Omran Al Kuwari stated that the number of children reached 10 males and 12 females, and their ages ranged between three and six, adding that based on the five-year agreement, which includes Kyrgyzstan and Gaza, 100 children will be treated equally every year.
Regarding the cost of the implanted devices, Al Kuwari said that the cost of treatment ranges between QR 40,000 and 45,000, and the value of each device is QR 32,000 and this price is considered a special price by the company as a contribution to this charitable work, as this amount constitutes a major obstacle for needy families in those countries.
He affirmed that all kinds of endowment initiatives are important, whether real estate or cash, stressing on the vital role it can play in providing treatment and providing effective health solutions to needy groups, noting that the number of people in need of cochlear implants in Kyrgyzstan alone is about 250 children so far.(QNA)
