NIHR president receives US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

Manama, Aug. 5 (BNA): President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ali Ahmed Al Derazi received US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Benyam. Al Derazi briefed the delegation on NIHR's work, objectives and competencies, explaining its role in dealing with human rights issues in Bahrain. Benyam praised NIHR’s efforts to preserve human rights in the Kingdom and to combat trafficking in persons, noting its implementation of the Alternative Penal Code. Binyam hailed the issuance of the law on restorative justice for children, which aims to support children and protect them, stressing the support of the US for everything that would achieve peace and human rights Bahrain. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation, especially in the fields of training and exchange of experiences, and the importance of continuing this cooperation to meet common goals.
