On Sunday or on the last day of the Judo World Championship 2015 that took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, men’s national judo team of Mongolia has won its first ever bronze medal in a team competition.
The bronze medal fight was held between the teams of host country and of Mongolia. Our team has gained victories in the first four weight categories, however in the last fight 2009 World Champion, Maxim Rakov from Kazakhstan has gained a point for the host country by winning our Olympic Champion, Naidan Tuvshinbayar.
Before this bronze medal match, men’s national team of Mongolia has defeated teams of Cuba /5-0/ and Georgia /3-2/ on its way to the semifinal. However, our athletes have lost the match for silver medal against South Korea’s team /1-5/.
Mongolia’s female national judo team has took the 5th place after losing the match for bronze medal to Germany.
Three Mongolian athletes – S.Nyam-Ochir /73 kg male weight category/, D.Sumiya /57kg female category/ and Ts.Munkhzaya /63kg female category/ took bronze medals in the individual matches.
