The national team of Mongolia has successfully competed in the Incheon 2014 Asian Games which ran from the 19th of September to 4th of October in South Korea. Our team took the 16th place among 45 countries, grabbing five gold, four silver and 12 bronze medals. Mongolia was represented by 234 athletes who competed in 24 events.
The 2014 Asian Games brought together over 12 thousand athletes from 45 countries; 37 nations won at least one medal, the Chinese team became first winning 151 gold, 108 silver and 83 bronze medals. It was followed by South Korea (host country) and Japan.
These Games were the most successful Asian Games for Mongolia. Gold medals were grabbed in judo, shooting and boxing. The national taekwondo team won first ever medal in the Games, whereas the free-style wrestling team grabbed one silver and four bronze medals.
Moreover, our men and women basketball teams have performed brilliantly so far and were selected as the top eight teams.
Mongolia has been taking part in the Asian Games since 1974, has won at least one gold medal at every participation. For the time being, Mongolian athletes have gained 20 gold, 37 silver and 80 bronze medals from Asian Games.
