Chinese technology will be used for high-speed train

BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) -- Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittyapaisith said the government will continue using Chinese technology in accordance to the contract signed between both sides earlier although the government has decided to invest alone on the country’s first high-speed train project between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima province. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha said Wednesday that his government would invest on the project following the deadlock in talks with Chinese authorities but would employ Chinese technicians to develop it. Mr Arkhom said the 250-kilometre long distance with the first double- track with new 1.435 metre standard gauge tracks and the maximum speed of 250 kilometres per hour wil be used for transporting commuters mainly. Construction of the high-speed train is expected late this year, slightly delayed from an earlier scheduled which was set in May. The rest of the distance running from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai amounting approximately 595 kilometres, drawn up earlier, will be considered later. (TNA)
