Foreign companies eager to make investment in Chabahar

Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA – Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones referring to the interest of foreign companies in making investment in Chabahar said establishment of proper infrastructure will play an outstanding role in economic prosperity of the eastern borders with neighboring countries and in welcoming investors. Stressing that strategic position of Chabahar Trade and Industrial Free Zone has resulted in promotion of foreign and domestic investment in the zone, Akbar Torkan said Chabahar is the most economical route for Central Asia and Afghanistan in gaining access to open seas. He added that proper utilization of this opportunity will result in development of eastern axis of the country. He pointed to the fact that docks for reloading and loading as well as Konarak airport and Chabahar port terminal have turned the port into an important center for transit of goods to neighboring countries, the Persian Gulf and the Indian sub-continent. He added that construction operations of two posts of Chabahar dock is nearing completion and a number of docks will be added to the port city. Torkan further remarked that soon development projects will be launched in Chabahar through foreign capitals and added that Chabahar is located on the route of the largest marine corridor for transit of goods and is considered an important commercial center. Chabahar port city due to its strategic position which makes it the closest route for Central Asian for gaining access to open seas enjoys great importance. Construction of jetty and increasing the capacity of receiving ocean-going vessels, construction of railway towards Central Asia and international airport have turned the port city into the most important crossroads in north-south corridor and a world commercial center which has entailed attraction of foreign investors./end
