Malaysia's Melaka, Guangdong To Sign MoU On Sept 21

MELAKA (Malaysia), Sept 3 (Bernama) -- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be inked between the Malaysia's Melaka state government and China's Guangdong province to establish cooperation in various fields on Sept 21. Chief Minister Idris Haron said the signing ceremony was scheduled to be held after the Guangdong province governor Zhu Xiaodan's courtesy call on Prime Minister Najib Razak at the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya. The state government and Guangdong province will be represented by Idris and Zhu respectively. "Prime Minister is scheduled to witness the signing ceremony," he told a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here Wednesday. The state was reported to have listed four touch points, namely economic, trade, land use and cultural-tourism in the MoU with Guangdong. Idris said Zhu was scheduled to visit Melaka on Sept 19, among others, to witness the rapid development of the 'Hang Tuah' state including the mega property project, Melaka Gateway and the shopping complex project, The Shore. He said during the visit, Zhu would be paying a courtesy call on theGovernor of Melaka Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob. "Zhu will also witness the signing of six memorandums of understanding between agencies and companies from Melaka and Guangdong including Melaka Biotechnology Corporation, Pantai Medical Centre and Melaka Gateway," he said. --BERNAMA
