Aid & Trade Conference Honours Qatar Charity with "Change Maker Award"

London, April 28 (QNA) - The Aid & Trade conference and exhibition held in London last week honoured the Qatar Charity (QC) with the "Change Maker Award", for its role in the service of humanitarian work and its development efforts and activities in 70 countries around the world. . The award was received by HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, Board Chairman of Qatar Charity (QC). The Aid & Trade, the largest annual conference in London, highlights humanitarian initiatives where each participant plays a role in humanitarian and development investment. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al-Thani said that Qatar Charity (QC) is keen to be an active member of the international system working in the field of humanitarian work, in cooperation with all , particularly in areas of humanitarian crises. He stressed that the QC has a wealth of experience in this field spans more than a quarter of a century. The number of cooperation and partnership agreements between Qatar Charity (QC) and humanitarian organizations and international and regional donors has reached 135 partnership and cooperation agreements so far, including 42 cooperation and partnership agreements with United Nations agencies, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al-Thani noted. Last week, Qatar Charity (QC), in collaboration with a number of international organizations, held a conference under the slogan "Investing in Humanity", an international event involving many international organizations, UN organizations, international agencies and private sector organizations. During the conference, UNHCR also honoured Qatar Charity for its efforts, projects and partnerships with UNHCR and the humanitarian service. The conference witnessed Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Qatar Charity (QC) announcing a cooperation and partnership agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide $ 9 million in financial support to provide basic services to Rohingya refugees. The conference also witnessed the launch of a joint campaign by Qatar Charity and UNHCR to reintegrate Somali refugees, and internally displaced people in Somalia and provides them with a better life. The campaign aims to raise $ 10 million and target 100,000 affected people. During the conference, the initiative of World Refugee School (WRS), of which QC is a founding member and member of its Global Board of Directors was announced, as a global initiative that seeks to provide quality education to refugees and displaced people around the world through e-learning techniques, offering solutions to education in conflict areas. The State of Qatar has participated with a high level delegation, including several governmental and non-governmental organizations, in order to showcase the projects and initiatives undertaken by the State of Qatar in the fields of humanitarian and development work. The delegation of Qatar included the strategic partners in the conference and exhibition which are Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity in addition to the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, Education Above All Foundation, and the Qatar Red Crescent.
