Harare calls for boosting mutual ties with Tehran

Tehran, IRNA – The First Lady of Zimbabwe Auxillia Mnangagwa said that Zimbabwe attaches special value to the development of bilateral ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mrs. Mnangagwa said in Tehran in the meeting with Iranian Labor and Social Welfare Minister Solat Mortazavi that holding a meeting with the Iranian minister and visiting the ministry is strategic and important. Adding that both countries are under sanctions, Mnangagwa said that new technologies and development and growth in Iran can be a stimulus for Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s first lady said that her country needs the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran and considers this support as a way to defeat sanctions and grow its economy. She said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has good experiences in facing sanctions and has been able to emerge in the field of production and relying on powerful domestic capacities. Iranian Labor and Social Welfare Minister Solat Mortazavi, for his part in the meeting, said that by holding the 9th meeting of the Joint Commission on Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Zimbabwe, the relations between the two countries will be further developed in all dimensions, especially in the economic field. Mortazavi in the meeting added that Iran and Zimbabwe have common positions in international forums and that Iran terms Zimbabwe as a friend and strategic ally in the African continent. Referring to the capacities of Iran's Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and its subsidiary companies, Mortazavi expressed his hope that both sides can have extensive cooperation in the economic and commercial fields as well. The first lady of Zimbabwe has traveled to Iran, heading a high-ranking delegation of the government of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
