House Speaker Meets With Nikolai Miladinov

BAGHDAD / NINA / The head of the House of Representatives, Salim al-Jubouri said Iraq needs more support from the United Nations. A statement for the House of Representatives said, "Jubouri received the representative of the UN Secretary-General, Nikolai Miladinov and discussed with him the latest developments in the political situation and the ongoing negotiations between the political blocs to form the government." Jubouri confirmed that "he works continuously with all parties for the purpose of overcoming the obstacles that hinder the process of forming the government." He added that "Iraq is passing through a critical period of its history and needs a concerted all efforts, especially the international support for the transition of the country to the stage of advancement, progress and prosperity" praising the positive role played by the United Nations in supporting Iraq and its tireless efforts for the success of the political process. For his part, Miladinov praised the positive role played by the speaker of parliament and his efforts in the convergence of views between the political parties, stressing the desire of the United Nations to form a government of national harmony and represents all Iraqi people. / End
